Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in Step Brothers

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in Step Brothers

Okay, so I recently saw the Will Ferrell/ John C. Reilly movie Step Brothers. I had extremely low expectations, because let’s be honest, Ferrell’s work hasn’t been that great lately. He’s been repeatedly playing the same kind of oafish and childish characters for years, meanwhile Reilly has an Academy Award nomination under his belt and has serious acting to fall back on. But whenever you get those two together, it’s just comedic gold.

I’m not even going to deal with the plot of the movie. This film’s plot is uniform, but that’s what makes it hilarious. It takes what could’ve been a normal and dumb comedy, and instead breaks any chains of realism and logic that would hold any other comedic team back. They take clean cut actress Mary Steenburgen and has her dropping F bombs in the middle of a truly ridiculous fist fight between Ferrell and Reilly. The film pulls no punches and does not bind itself to logic, instead requesting that the audience suspend their disbelief for the sake of a big laugh. No, the movie’s not for everyone, but if you know what you’re getting when you watch Will Ferrell, then you’ll love it.

If you want to give the movie a shot, then here’s where you could get a copy. Just remember, you probably know what you’re getting into, lol.
