Peter Weller To Voice Batman in Dark Knight Returns

Peter Weller To Voice Batman in Dark Knight Returns

Comics Movies

I know I’ve been really wrapped up in all the Dark Knight Rises stuff, so I figured I’d take a break from that and talk about the DC animated flicks. So the news has broken that Peter Weller, Robocop to those not in the know, will do the voice for Batman in the adaptation for the classic Dark Knight Returns. The thing is…I’m probably the one person who reads comics that doesn’t particularly care for the Dark Knight Returns. I don’t particularly like the way Frank Miller writes Batman, and I especially dislike his way of portraying Batman’s relationship with Superman as antagonistic. I agree that comics owe a lot to Miller for helping to get people to take comics seriously, but his recent trip to Wackyland and the fact that he almost single handedly ruined Will Eisner’s The Spirit has cost Miller a few points with me. Whether Sin City 2 brings some points back remains to be seen with me. I will say, the images look pretty cool.

Daniel Craig is, to me, the best James Bond since Sean Connery. The guy nails the confidence and the pathos that the character should have.  Casino Royale was amazing, and while Quantum of Solace didn’t exactly live up to the standard that Casino Royale set, it was at least a good place holder and helped to wrap up the loose threads of the first flick. And now we have Skyfall. Directed by Sam Mendes, the director of American Beauty, Skyfall shows a much more haggard Bond. With rumors that major character deaths will occur, and what appears to be a return to high class form, I am excited for this flick.

Fallout Nuka Break Getting Help From Developers?

Fallout Nuka Break Getting Help From Developers?

Games

So a while back I did an article about the best fan films ever made. But I’m human, and humans make mistakes. I accidentally left the brilliantly faithful Fallout: Nuka Break off of the list when it should have had a top spot. Former Indy Mogul Backyard FX host Zack Finfrock is the creator and one of the stars of the show, which follows on a group of scavengers in the Mojave Wasteland from Fallout: New Vegas.

Nuka Break has been incredible because of how faithful to the source material it is and how polished it is. But it helps that the series is funded through Kickstarter. Well, Fallout developers Chris Avellone and Tim Kaine have announced that if Wayside Creations, the group behind Nuka Break, can double their original budget goal on Kickstarter they will not only help with writing some of the series, but they will also appear in the series themselves. This could be a first for fan films, as I can’t think of ANY time when the developers of a property were willing to help with a fan production. This may even be a step toward making the series an official tie-in as opposed to simply a fan production. Time will tell, but regardless of whether it becomes official or not, the series is massively awesome.
