Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Edition Revealed!

Games

Final Fantasy has had a lot of ups and downs over the past twenty five years. There have definitely been more ups (like FF VI and VII) than downs (XI and XII). To help celebrate 25 years of Final Fantasy goodness, Square is bringing us the Final fantasy 25th Anniversary Edition!

This edition will contain every main Final Fantasy game across multiple platforms. On top of the massive amount of games you get in the collection, there’s also a special anniversary video along with a soundtrack. So yeah, it’s a pretty awesome value and it looks something like this.

Hey, everyone! We here at Cotygeek think you guys deserve a little bit of awesome to liven up your week! So we are officially announcing the start of the First EVER Cotygeek Giveaway! The item we’re giving away will be The Hunger Games Disc Blu-Ray with digital copy!

This was an amazing movie that deserves to be much more widely seen then it already has. It’s rare to see a movie that actually attempts to stick close to the book. Not only did this movie stay incredibly close to the book but it also helped the characters to come alive on screen. This was an all around great movie.

As if our giveaway of the movie wasn’t cool enough, our friends over at Reviews By Rachel are giving away the complete set of Hunger Games books. You can go beyond the experience of the movie and get the entire epic story!

So all you have to do is check the details at the bottom to enter, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Ico HD Review!

Ico HD Review!

Games

Like the other game in this dual pack Shadow of the Colosuss which I already did a review on.  I haven’t played the original but also heard this game was very good.

Like SOTC the framerate is also better as well as the fluidity of the motion, so it’s a little difficult to say anything about the graphics without feeling repetitive. The world in this game is massive, and the HD certainly helps in that regard.

Gameplay (slight spoilers)

You start off as a young boy named Ico born with horns in a village where this is believed to be a bad omen. You are in a large fortress or castle because your village wished to put you there until a small earthquake happens allowing you to escape the room. You make your way through the castle until you run into a girl in a large bird cage dressed in white named Yorda, you release her from this cage and your adventure begins there. The game play has a Zelda feel to it as you make your way through rooms and such figuring out how to move on. The main difference from the zelda feel is you are leading the young girl around with you as well and it isn’t as cartoony. The puzzles are mainly based upon how you can get there and how she can follow you. I won’t get into who she is or why you are helping her for the sake of spoilers and gamers like myself who haven’t played it. You have a series of save stations where Yorda and Ico sit on a bench and fall asleep (how cute). Now the puzzles aren’t the only hard part, as you go further through the castle shadow monsters are trying to take Yorda away, and if you let them you will restart at your last savepoint. You stay pretty busy killing these monsters when they come, they are persistant little D-bags. The entire point of the game is to escape the castle with Yorda. The game play also has little music during the game which I actually like because it gives you a sense of you are playing this alone and have to figure this out and watch for shadow monsters instead of having musical moments give it away. The world feels large just as it did in SOTC as well.

Final thoughts

It’s pretty fun and you could say whimsical. It is a great game and can give you a pretty good challenge if you give it a chance. I recommend getting this is you haven’t played it because you also get Shadow of the Colossus with it and that’s not a bad deal for 20 dollars. This is a great spin on the “guy saves girl” story and will bring you hours of enjoyment.
